Founder: Helene

I founded Love Thy Neighbor International amidst the pandemic, whose goal is to provide long-term beneficial aid and impact disadvantaged and underserved communities both on a local and global scale. By partnering with Hopestart International, based in Jeremie, Haiti, I provided weekly 1 on 1 tutoring sessions to the kids in their Children's Home, which later expanded to include math, computer skills, art, and singing. Throughout the years I have worked with them, I have been able to tutor around 20 students, donate $2300, and have bolstered my knowledge of events going on around the world and the lives of other people.

In the summer before my senior year, I was given the opportunity to visit Haiti in person, which was a true blessing. Over the course of 10 days, I traveled to the town of Jeremie, met the kids at Hopestart, donated to the local community, volunteered on Hopestart’s projects, and learned about the culture and community in Haiti. I was truly humbled by the conditions in Haiti. Although the situation was grim and seemed hopeless, I learned that not every problem could be solved by me alone. The tutoring I would provide would help the children at Hopestart, giving them more opportunities to get jobs and support their own communities. The relationships I built with them would give them support and encouragement to benefit others and their country. It’s not something that can be solved overnight, as problems have plagued Haiti for centuries. Although I do not have it in my power right now to make big changes, I can take small victories one step at a time. By showing them my dedication to making things better, I hope that they themselves can also want things to be better.

The experience gave me passion and goals for life that I didn’t have before. I can be sure that working internationally is something I am truly interested in and emotionally invested in, and it is my goal to work in second and third-world countries.

We work with GROW CHILD A LIGHT ON THEIR PATH CORPORATION to provide underprivileged children access to online learning and encourage their future education. We partner with Haiti orphanage in Jeremie, Thailand mountain tribe children center, provided tutoring, donated laptops and Christmas gift. LTNI grow up from 10 tutors to around 100 tutors in last 4 years. We provide weekly 1 on 1 tutoring sessions to the Children, include English math, computer skills, art, and singing. I believe that more education resource and friendship with US tutors can make a meaningful impact of Haitian and Thailand children , who will,  ultimately, change their community and the future of their nation.
